Day 5 – it is really the end

We’ve been waiting so long for this all to happen… But now that we are on the last day we can’t believe it’s actually happened. We headed out for our last day of sailing with an air of the unreal…

Unreal it was! We came out to find not even a whisper of wind but the dolphins playing around out at sea. We later saw huge bait balls as part of the sardine run. Some of the dolphins played with their food throwing their catch up into the air before it gobbling. Mesmerizing to watch.

We waited around on our favourite floaty for wind. The wind slowly started filling in but as any good regatta would have it, as soon as the AP over A was raised at the cut-off time limit, the wind came through.

We made quick work of getting back home and de-rigging. A quick trip to the showers and we were ready for prize giving.

A huge congratulations to this organizing committee for a wonderful regatta. We had a stellar time and are so thankful to be part of a fleet of this calibre, both on and off the water. We are inspired, improved and excited by the sportsmanship of this fleet.

Congratulations to new world championship holders: David, Sean and Siya!

Tomorrow sees us taking our favourite pickle out of the water and heading back to DAC. The support and encouragement we have received for our campaign has made our hearts mushy and left us with deep appreciation.
