Practice day and welcoming

Today was a lot of fun! We launched and took our favorite pickle out into the harbour for final checks on our newly errected mast.

We are so pleased that everything is running smoothly and that things are as they should be.

The international mooring area is buzzing with life as everyone is getting ready for action.

The practice race was extremely light. A couple boats came out for the race. Richard Tanner and his team on Baby J quickly jumped to the lead while we played some tactics with Rob de Vlieg and team on Team SuperSails. We came around the top mark a couple boat lengths behind Baby J and rounded weather side of SuperSails. Both teams quickly decided that they had had enough of the wind that was dwindling. We continued on and stayed ahead of our new Dutch friends on Andiamo.

The vibe on board JalapeƱo was a light and fun one after realising that everything was working as it ought to.

We had received our sponsored team kit from Ullman Sails South Africa which had us feeling like it was Christmas in July. Pierre and Randolph enjoyed the “day off”.

A couple beers and some good cheer at the Welcoming Ceremony where had before heading home.

It’s an early night to be fresh as a daisy for tomorrow ‘s race 1. Wheeeeeeee !
